5 Tips for back to school prep

It’s that time of year again!
Summer is coming to an end, and families are rushing around to prepare for the upcoming school year. Back to School is a huge milestone for your kids, but can take a fair amount of coordination and preparation on you.

Here are 5 tips to make your Back to School preparation fun and stress-free:

  1. Make a Plan!
I know, I know. . . this is not everyone’s favorite! But when things get busy, it helps to have a solid plan in place.
Have a list ready of things that need to be done, and timelines for each. This will ensure you have everything checked off before the big day.

  2. Ask your Kids!
What are their expectations as they start this new chapter? What is their vision?
Check in with your kids to ensure you are on the same page, and ensure you don’t miss anything that is really important to them that may not be on your radar.

  3. Establish a Budget
Start of the School Year often comes with several additional expenses as you rush to buy school supplies, shop for clothes, and enroll your students in programs.
Keep track of these expenses by establishing a budget, and tracking all purchases. This will help you identify how much you have remaining to spend.

  4. Simplify Meals
Make a meal plan ahead of time for packing lunches AND for dinners!
During this busy time, try to keep things simple. This is the perfect time to lean on family favorite meals that take less prep work.

  5. Don’t forget about Family Time
Don’t let the stress of Back to School prep prevent you from spending quality time with your family. Don’t let the last few weeks of summer break fly by without squeezing in some fun activities with the kids, and watch out for opportunities to spend more time as a family once school starts.

Whether it’s the first day of Kindergarten, or your child’s last year of High School, Happy First Day Of School!
